Born on May 13, 1990 in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, Bhargav Bhatt is a cricketer who plays for Baroda in Indian domestic cricket. He is a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. He also plays for Kings XI Punjab in Indian Premier League.
Bhatt, in his debut first-class season, picked up 47 wickets from 9 matches to become the highest wicket-taker of the season. His impressive showing was awarded, as he got an IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab franchise in 2011. He continued his good run in the Twenty20 format too with economic bowling. He had figures of 2.5-0-22-4 against Mumbai Indians for which he earned the Man-of-the-Match award.
Bhargav Bhatt made a huge impact in his debut season, picking up 47 wickets in nine matches to lead the Ranji wicket-takers tally and steer Baroda to the finals. It capped a stunning rise for a bowler who until three years before his Ranji debut, was not even a regular in the Baroda Under-19 side. His Ranji exploits caught the eye of the IPL talent scouts, and he was drafted into the Kings XI Punjab side. He impressed in the home game against the higher-ranked Mumbai Indians, with a four-wicket haul that earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.
For his consistent performances at the domestic circuit, Bhatt got he National selectors nod to be picked in the India-A team against West Indies-A. Playing against West Indies-A, he displayed his skill by having a 9-wicket haul, with 7 wickets in the first innings and 2 in the second one.
This performance will go a long way to help Bhatt to receive the National selectors call time and again.
