Chilli, jeera rise as demand picks up

NEW DELHI, Oct 12:  Red chilli and jeera prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today largely following pick-up in demand from local parties as well as overseas enquiries.
Red chilli prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,700-12,200 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also increased by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 12,900-13,100 and Rs 16,600-16,900 per quintal, respectively.
Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists amid rising export demand, mainly pushed up chilli and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
The following are today’s quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 11,200-17,700, black pepper (per kg) 460-590, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 850-900 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 950-1100.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 660-760, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 780-870. (PTI)
