KOLHAPUR, Oct 13: The last rites of martyr Sattapa Mahadev Patil (24), who was killed at Keran sector, along the line of control, in Srinagar, when Pakistani intruders opened fire on Indian Army troops were performed here today. Martyr Patil’s body, arrived by a special Air Force plane in Mumbai yesterday, The body was taken towards to his native place at Masa-Belesadi village, of Kagal Tehsil of this district by special Army vehicles. 15th Rastrya Rifles Regiment Chief Vimalkumar Verma, Cornerls Vijaykumar and Alex Mohan, Subhedar Pratap Sing, Nail Subhedar Ajit Patil were accompanied the martyr’s body. In Masa-Belewadi, thousands of people, who were awaiting Patil’s body, shouted out slogans with ‘Sattapa Patil Amar Rahe’,’Pakistan Murdabad’, when it arrived around 0900 hours. Later, the body was kept at his home for the last ‘Darshan’ of his family members and relatives. Then a procession, was taken out on a vehicle decorated with flowers. After passing through the main roads of the village, the procession reached the funeral place near a Temple at West direction of the village. In the presence of large number of people, Army jawans and police gave salute by firing rounds in the air. Patil’s father and elder brother cremated the deported soul at 1100 hours, after completion of all religious rites which were performed at the funeral place. Minister of State of Home, Satej Patil, Sanjay Mandlik, President of Kolhapur Zilla Parishad, Sanjay Ghatage, former Mla, Navid Mushrif,Rajaram Mane, District Collector, Shantaram Sangade, Tehsildar Kagal, Mohini Patil, Regional Officer, Army officers were present for the funeral.
