JAMMU, Nov 9: A Sadhbhavana and symbolic Yatra which was organized from Kashmir on November 8 starting from Srinagar was flagged off by Baldev Singh Billawaria, Deputy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) from here, today.
Passing through Punjab, Haryana, H.P and ultimately culminateed at Delhi Chandni Chowk on November 11. A place where Guru Sahib attained martyrdom on November 11 in 1675.
The narrow and fanatic outlook of Aurangzeb started the persecution of Kashmiri Pandits, with the objective of securing their conversion to Islam. Saddened by the plight of the Pandits, Guru Tegh Bahadur became pensive and he made up his mind to fight against the atrocities of the Mughal King.
Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom has become a symbol of religious unity, tolerance and the message against fanaticism and he sacrificed his life for the dignity of Indian ethics. The tremendous sacrifice of Guru Ji and his disciples did not go in vain. It became a volcano and stirred the people who were in slumber.
“We humbly and earnestly request the Indian Government to issue instruction to observe two minutes silence on November 11 at 11 am all over India by all to remember the great sacrifice as no amount of praise would suffice for this great work and by doing this a great service will be rendered to one and all as we can never redeem the debt we owe to Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji,” a handout issued by Global Guru Nanak Mission here today said.
The Yatra was organised by Global Guru Nanak Mission under the chairmanship of Dr. Jaswant Singh, Co- chairman Surjeet Singh and Co Sanyojak Sandeep Tyagi, Jagjit Singh, Avtar Singh and other members.
