JAMMU, Nov 11: The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) today vowed to promote local artisans of district Samba in collaboration with the District administration.
A delegation of ASSOCHAM J&K Council led by Manik Batra, comprising Bhupesh Gupta (co-chairman ASSOCHAM J&K Council) and Amit Khajuria (Assistant Director, ASSOCHAM J&K, Ladakh) today met Anuradha Gupta (Deputy Commissioner, Samba) and assured her full support to promote local artisans.
The delegation also discussed “Bobo di Sandukhdi”, an initiative of Samba district administration to provide an online marketing platform to the local artisans, weavers and small entrepreneurs of the District and suggested some ideas to promote it on the national level.
“There is a lot of local handicraft and cultural heritage which does not have the right exposure, we extend our full support to promote local artisans and culture of district Samba and will soon organize a buyer-seller meet in partnership with district administration Samba,” said Manik Batra.
Bhupesh Gupta said, “Our local artisans have talent, ideas and potential to create a huge market, they only need our handholding. ASSOCHAM will provide them support in the form of market exposure and take them to national level. Some exhibitions and buyer-seller meets were also planned during the meeting, which will be announced soon.”
Deputy Commissioner Samba said the move has been taken to promote local artisans under ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atma Nirbhar’ campaigns by facilitating maximum outreach of local products through online portals.
“We are thankful to ASSOCHAM for coming forward to support local artisans. We are looking forward to organize a buyer-seller meet soon,” said Anuradha Gupta.
