LEH, June 14: Taking into account the disturbed and congested mobile services of BSNL and short signal coverage of private mobile services like Airtel and Aircel, CEC, LAHDC Rigzin Spalbar held a meeting with Rajiv Raina, Manager Corporate Affairs, representative of Vodacom, an international Telecom Company and sought Vodafone mobile services in Ladakh.
“Ladakh, as a matter of fact is located in a strategic area with harsh geographical terrain and climatic condition. Secondly, over the years the region has become a prime tourist destination for national as well international tourists and in view of these facts, phone services play a major role in keeping the people in this part of the world connected to the rest and especially to facilitate the tourists visiting Ladakh in huge numbers,” asserted Spalbar.
Vodafone being one of the most popular international brand names in telecom services, CEC sought Vodafone’s presence in Leh and Kargil regions to enhance mobile services and connectivity in this mountainous area. He also advised Vodafone to lay down Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) from Srinagar to Leh sharing with other private operators which in other way will boost the development of Ladakh in particular and national interest in general.
