JAMMU, June 13: Vidya Devi, mother of Vigilance Commissioner and senior IPS officer, Pitambar Lal Gupta and Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Jeet Lal Gupta, who passed away yesterday after a brief illness, was cremated at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground this morning.
The funeral procession of Vidya Devi was started from her residence in Lane No.3 of Tawi Vihar, Sidhra and culminated at Jogi Gate Cremation Ground, where her last rites were performed.
Large number of people from all walks of life including politicians, bureaucrats and police officers participated in the funeral procession and last rites of Vidya Devi.
Meanwhile, Governor, N N Vohra conveyed his sympathy to P L Gupta and Jeet Lal Gupta on the passing away of their mother.
In the condolence message, the Government prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
