One more dies of dengue, toll reaches 18

JAMMU, Nov 12: With one more death reported this morning, the death toll due to dengue in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 18 in this season while as 7,343 people have been found positive for this dreaded disease so far in the Union Territory.
Giving information about the recent death, a Health official said that a 53-year-old man belonging to Bale-da-Bagh (Akhnoor) area of Jammu succumbed to dengue fever this morning in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
He informed that as on date, tests of 23,692 people have been conducted for dengue virus, of which 7,343 turned out positive for the virus. He said that 4,995 cases have been reported alone from Jammu district, followed by 692 from Udhampur, 277 from Samba, 217 from Doda, 131 from Kathua, 106 from Reasi, 90 from Rajouri, 47 from Ramban, 34 from Poonch and 25 from Kishtwar district.
In Kashmir region, the official said only 11 positive cases have been reported so far while 16 cases of locals were reported from other states/UTs. He further informed that a total of 476 tests for dengue were conducted today in the Union Territory and out of these 137 were found positive with 83 cases reported from Jammu district, 20 from Udhampur, 14 from Samba, 8 from Kathua, 6 from Doda, 4 from Ramban and 1 each from Reasi and Rajouri districts.
Giving figures of dengue cases reported from the UT in last 7 days, the official said 126 people were found positive for dengue on November 6, 52 on November 7, 59 on November 8, 96 on November 9, 86 on November 10 and 63 on November 11.
