Forty-three injured as bus rolls down

JAMMU, Nov 12: Over forty passengers, mostly students, were injured this evening when a bus carrying them rolled down the road in Chowki Choura area of Akhnoor.
According to the reports, a bus bearing registration number JK02CT-0782 was on its way from Chowki Choura to Ghar Majoor when while giving way to another vehicle at Rameen Makhani it rolled down the road. The mishap occurred around 4:30 this evening.
In the accident, 35 passengers travelling in the bus suffered minor injuries and eight received moderate to serious. Those with minor injuries were given first-aid at nearby Government Hospital while eight passengers with moderate to serious injuries were given medical treatment at Sub District Hospital Akhnoor and five of them were later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for specialized treatment.
The injured passengers referred to GMCH Jammu were identified Satish (16) son of Bhushan of Ghar Majoor, Chaman Lal (42) son of Niku Ram of Chowki Choura, Mallu Devi (18) daughter of Suraj Parkash of Chowki Choura, Bimla Devi (35) wife of Chaman Lal of Chowki Choura and Suraj Parkash (45) son of Nanak Chand of Chowki Choura.
A case in this connection was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation started.
