AJKTWA discusses demands with Transport Secy

JAMMU, Nov 13: The demands of the transporters were discussed threadbare with Commissioner Secretary Transport Department by All J&K Transport Welfare Association (AJKTWA) in a meeting held here today.
The meeting was organized by Association chairman Ajit Singh and attended by all the presidents, representatives and other members of the commercial transport association including Vijay Singh Chib, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Sanjeev Choudhary, Kuldip Singh, Labh Singh Chib, KD Singh, Sher Singh, Daviender Choudhary, Paramjeet Singh, Shanti Saroop Gupta, Gurdeep Singh, Inderjeet Sharma and Mangat Ram.
After the meeting, it was decided that the steep hike in fees and penalties in table number 5 of rule 80 from Column C to G will be waived off and the replacement permit fee for the old vehicles which comes under replacement policy of Stage and Contract carriage (R/P) will not be hiked.
It was further approved that Stage carriage route permit of all passenger commercial vehicles will not be treated as open policy and there should be blanket ban on any issuance of route permits. The association requested the Commissioner Secretary that the contract carriage permit for auto rickshaws and taxis will not be issued without survey and shall be treated as need based as the e-vehicles are already in operation without route permit clause.
