KATHUA, Nov 13: Rattan Lal Gupta, National Conference (NC) provincial president, Jammu today gave a clarion call to all the opposition parties to come on same pedestal to combat the divisive forces unitedly as it has become necessary for saving the country from disaster.
The senior NC leader was addressing a workers’ convention of JKNC SC Cell as chief guest at block Barnoti in district Kathua. The meeting was organized by Dr Janak Raj, district president, JKNC SC Cell.
Rattan Lal Gupta made a fervent call to protect the Indian Union from divisive forces claiming that the situation has become precarious with such forces successfully creating wedge between communities and religions thus challenging the very of unity among diversity, for which the country is known across the globe.
“I wish to make an appeal, not just to the leaders on this stage, but to everyone who believes in secular values. Our Indian Union is facing a big threat from divisive forces. We all need to come together to defeat them and protect the founding principles of India,” he said, adding that the time is demanding that the opposition should get united to fight divisive forces in the country otherwise the policies of BJP to crush the opposition will ruin the country, he added.
“Unity of opposition is a must for the country and only Dr Farooq Abdullah can bring all the opposition leaders on one platform to save the people from the divisive policies of the BJP”, Gupta said.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, provincial secretary JKNC, asked the party activists to strengthen the hands of Farooq Abdullah by acting as the ambassadors of NC at the grassroots level. He said that the time of BJP is over and the next phase will be of NC which will come to power with full majority and usher in era of providing full rights and facilities to the people unlike the discriminatory regimes that ruined the State by creating differences among people on one pretext or other especially by paying religious cards.
Vijay Lochan, provincial president SC Cell, NC said that farmers are most affected under the present regime as the irrigation system has totally collapsed in Jammu province.
