Youth needed to fight menace of corruption: Vakil

SOPORE Oct 14: Former Minister and Member AICC, Abdul Gani Vakil today stressed upon the youth to come forward and fight menace of corruption as it eats the vitals of the society.
He said corruption has become a menace not only in the State but in the whole country and same needs to be tackled seriously with iron hand otherwise a bigger war will be started between have’s and have not’s  and it will be virtually uncontrollable.
He stressed upon the Government to initiate serious measures to curb the corruption and in this regard the assets not only of bureaucrats but also of politicians should be evaluated and out of those assets found to be disproportionate to their legitimate known source of income, as a deterrence and curbing measure, must be confiscated and utilized for welfare of common masses.
He lauded the role of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in enacting legislation against the corruption which provided for confiscating the property or wealth amassed by a Government servant but the lacuna to include politicians should be addressed and amendment to this effect must be incorporated at earliest.
Mr Vakil was addressing students of Degree College Sopore on a function organized by the management of the college.
He Vakil urged teachers to understand their duty in building a strong nation through their pious profession and channelizing energy of youth in a constructive direction should be their primary concern.
