JAMMU, Oct 14: Minister for Tourism, G.A. Mir, on Monday convened a meeting of Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society, Jammu, to take stock of restoration works being done in Mubarak Mandi Complex here today.
Director Tourism, Soujanya Sharma, members of Executive Committee, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society including, Narinder Singh Jamwal, Zafar Ahmed Khan, Prof. Zaharu Din, B.B. Raina, Darshan Gupta and staff of the Tourism department were present in the meeting.
The Minister said that maximum stress is being paid on maintenance of past glory of this historical heritage complex without affecting the original structure while executing restoration works on it. He said that it is endeavor of the Government to preserve such destinations of great religious and historic importance as these symbolize the culture and rich heritage of our state.
The Minister said that a committee has been deputed to visit the Rajasthan to learn the effective ways of preservation of old monuments without affecting the original shapes and structures as done there.
Director Tourism, Soujanya Sharma, gave a brief resume about the pace of construction works on the complex. He said that Rs. 50 crore were sanctioned by the 13th Finance Commission, of which, an amount of Rs.8.51 crore was released. Likewise, Rs.16.80 crore were sanctioned under a Mega Project, of which, Rs.3.38 crore have been released so far.
Earlier, Mir had a round of the complex and inspection of ongoing construction works.
