2 houses, 3 shops gutted in devastating fire at Bani

KATHUA, Nov 15: Two residential houses and three shops were burnt in devastating fire that took place at Bani Bazar this morning.
Local people and police swung into action and tried to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjoining houses as no fire tender service was available in the area. The people brought water from river as there was no arrangement of any fire tender. Following the situation and threat to nearby houses the Army was called to  control the blaze and it succeeded in preventing fire from spreading with hard efforts.
There is no report of any human loss. Reports said the fire first broke out into the upper storey of a house and when flames came out, the family members woke up and also informed the other people residing in the vicinity. The people who were sleeping in their houses immediately moved out after leaving their belongings inside to save their lives.
Reports said four families were residing in these houses as tenants. A huge loss of property is reported.
The affected families were Ahmad Shiekh, Gulshan Begum, Devender Gupta, Radha Krishan, Darshan Kumar, Rekha Devi, Asha Badyal. The cause of fire is not known yet .
The Bani police started investigation into the matter.  A local leader and an ex Minister, Prem Sagar  Aziz and Ex MLA Jeevan Lal demanded the compensation for victim families as they suffered huge loss of property. They demanded to set up movable fire tender service as a many fire cases have been reported in Bani constituency in past.
The Bani administration has extend cash relief of Rs 10,000 to each affected family.
