JAMMU, Nov 16: BJP spokesperson and former MLC, G L Raina today made it clear that PM package and other employees are ready to join their duties in Valley but the Government has to create secure and conducive atmosphere for that.
In an exclusive interview to Excelsior, he said the targeted and selective killings have created a fear psychosis among the minorities in the Valley which forced them to abandon their work places and come to Jammu.

Raina said these employees are compelled to demand relocation as they are totally scared to work in Valley where minorities are under threat after recent selective and targeted killings. He said if package, reserved category employees and non package employees are provided security from their work place to residences they will join their duties. He said it is unfortunate that the Government could not provide accommodations to these employees. Though it was announced to construct 6000 tenements for the package employees in 2015 till date only 1000 to 15000 tenements are ready, he added.
About 80 to 85 percent employees still live in rented accommodations and don’t feel secure there in view of the recent episodes, he said.
He said there is no denying the fact that Government took very good steps in curbing militancy in Kashmir but still more needs to be done. Raina, who is also the member of BJP Committee on package employees headed by former Deputy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh said that the Committee has already made some recommendations to the Government in this regard in its interim report.
In response to a question that the package employees and non package employees as well as other members of minority community who migrated from Kashmir are talking in different directions, Raina said when one person is killed it shakes the family and the area where he lives.
He said the people who stayed in Kashmir during worst days of 1989 and 90 have been forced to leave now from some villages due to selective killings. They were cultivating their orchards agriculture land and doing some business but now they have come on road side having no source to sustain. The Committee is demanding if they are not registered as migrants the Government should provide them some relief for sustenance. “When we fed millions of families during two years of COVID Pandemic why can’t we feed these few families”, he asked?
Raina said not only Government or security forces can ensure rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley but the Civil Society of Kashmir has a great role to play in this regard. They have to now come out of the shackles and openly take on against the forces inimical to peace.
“Denying refuge to militants by the people is not enough but their over ground sympathizers are to be identified and isolated, he said, adding there can’t be any time frame about the rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley as various outside and internal forces are working against their rehabilitation and putting Kashmir on fire. The role of some socalled mainstream opposition parties is also dismal and concerning in this regard”.
Raina said these mainstream parties have to clear their role and policy in this regard. Maintaining that rehabilitation is the demand of Pandits since 1990 he said Government and community has to come on one page over this issue. He expressed the hope that present Government will give a serious thought to this issue.
