JAMMU, Nov 16: A day after his engagement, a Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed after being run over by a speeding truck at Narwal bypass here early today.
The truck driver also suffered injuries when he lost control over the vehicle and hit another parked truck.

SPO Rajat Choudhary, son of Lekh Raj, a resident of Tehsil Bishnah District Jammu, was part of a police party engaged in checking vehicles near forest check post on the bypass when he was hit by the speeding truck bearing Tamil Nadu registration number, resulting in critical injuries to him.
His colleagues rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he succumbed to injuries.
The truck driver is being treated at a hospital under custody.
The cop got engaged two days back and was expected to get married in February next year.
The body of the deceased was handed over to his family for last rites after completion of legal formalities.
A case under FIR Number 114/2022 and relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation started.
