UDHAMPUR, Nov 20: The Police achieved another success by recovering about 13 kg of poppy straw at Jakhani Naka on highway during checking today.
Official sources said that Police team led by SHO Raghubir Singh while conducting routine vehicle checking at Jakhani naka point intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. PB08BW-9737. It was coming from Kashmir side.
During checking Police recovered 13.130 kg of poppy straw and arrested two smugglers who were smuggling consignment in the said vehicle to Punjab.
The arrested persons disclosed their identities as Swarn Singh, son of Satnam Singh of Amritsar and Surjit Singh, son of Ram Singh of Amritsar.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 486/2022 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case has been taken up
