ICCR to present ‘Gulab Gaatha’

Jammu, Oct 16: Indian Council for Cultural Relations Jammu in association with Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust is organizing a mega musical dramatic presentation ‘Gulab Gaatha’ on October 20 at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu at 5 pm.
Dr Karan Singh, President Indian Council for Cultural Relations will be the chief guest on the occasion. Top television actor Mohit Raina who is known world over as Devon Ke Dev Mahadev will be honored on the occasion with prestigious Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Award.
This was informed here today by Balwant Thakur Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu in a press briefing held at ICCR headquarters Jammu.
Giving details about the ‘Gulab Gaatha’, Balwant Thakur informed that this is going to the first ever musical dramatic presentation which is being performed with the help of 70 actors and performers on stage will unfold interesting facts about the life and the contribution of Maharaja Gulab Singh who is also known as the founder of Jammu and Kashmir State.
Through this big canvass presentation an effort is being made to educate the younger generation about one of the few historical legacies the India could genuinely proud of i.e., Maharaja Gulab Singh whose sagacity, achievements and contributions unfortunately remained buried in the debris of British and Indian archives.
The script, lyrics and the music is being done and the presentation is designed and directed by Balwant Thakur. Top actors of Jammu stage and television are being featured in this show. He further informed that the entry to the show will be strictly by invitations and the free invitation cards can be had from the office of the ICCR Jammu which is situated at 46-Garden Avenue, Near Circuit House, Talab Tillo Jammu.
