Mortal remains of Dr Rissam consigned to flames

JAMMU, Oct 18: The mortal remains of the eminent Interventional Cardiologist Padamshree Dr Harbajan Singh Rissam were consigned to flames at Shastri Nagar Cremation Ground  here this morning.
The pyre of Dr Rissam was lit by his son Harbeer Singh and brother Juhar Singh.  Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Minister for Renewable Energy and President National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah at the mortal remains of Dr Rissam as a mark of respect.
Thousands of people belonging to different walks of life including Minister for Planning, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, National Conference provincial president, Devender Singh Rana, BJP MLA Ashok Khajuria, former Minister and sitting MLA Surjit Singh Slathia, Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu, Dr S S Bloeria, Chief Vigilance Commissioner Kuldeep Khuda and former Director General of Police M M Khajuria, joined the funeral procession.
Former Medical Education Minister, R S Chib has recalled the efforts of Dr Rissam in improving health infrastructure in State.
Death of Dr Rissam has been widely mourned across Jammu and Kashmir.
