Samba police rescues 18 bovines, arrests driver, seizes truck

SAMBA, Dec 4: Intensifying its drive against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, District Police Samba under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines, rescued 18 animals and arrested a bovine smuggler in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba today.
Police said a team of Police Post (PP), Mansar while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka point, Mansar intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number, JK18A/0849 for checking.
During checking, 18 bovines were found laden inside the truck without any permission and were tied in a cruel manner.
The driver of the vehicle namely Sadiq, son of Ghulam Nabi of Qazigund has been arrested.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 293/2022 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act has been registered in Police Station Samba.
All the bovines were rescued and shifted to a safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized.
