Slimmest Cochlear Implant done at Narayana Hospital

JAMMU, Dec 5: Under the guidance of Dr. Sunil Kotwal, a 1.5 yrs old girl from valley was given the gift of hearing by Dr. Rohan Gupta and his team.
This girl was diagnosed with deafness from birth and her elder sister too suffered from the same problem and was implanted by Dr. Gupta, 3 years back.
Dr. Rohan Gupta is the first surgeon in J&K to do this implant.
Dr. Sunil Kotwal, senior consultant, informed that a team approach is also very much essential to perform a safe and a successful CI surgery and lauded the services of the anesthesia team at the Hospital led by Dr. Pankaj Gupta and NICU team for post-op care led by Dr. Preeti Gupta.
Dr. Kotwal also told that Narayana hospital has tie ups with various rehabilitation centres throughout the UT so that implanted children who require rehabilitation for around a year have hassle free access to these centres.
Dr. Rohan Gupta said, if a child is unable to hear and unable to speak, if operated at right time in life, can develop speech, just like other children in his/her age group and can lead a normal life.
