ASKPC reiterates homeland demand for 7 lakh KPs

JAMMU, Oct 20: Executive body of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) was held here, today under the chairmanship of H L Chatta its president in which problems of displaced Pandits were discussed.
Addressing the meeting Mr Chatta disputed the Government claims regarding the return of normalcy in Kashmir valley and said that the militants are still roaming there and under such circumstances the return of community was not possible.
He said the J&K is an integral part of India as the instrument of accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1947 and ratified by State Assembly later was full and final.
Addressing the meeting R K Raina senior vice president ASKPC said that the displaced Pandits will return only when seven lakh Pandits are rehabilitated by carving out a separate homeland for them within Valley with the free flow of Indian Constitution.
The meeting demanded enhancement of cash relief to Rs 15,000 per family per month and criticized the Government for its failure in solving the problems of the Jagti camp inmates. It also expressed concern over delay in passage of Shrines and Temples Bill. B L Handoo, Bharat Bushan Bhat, Subash Chatta, S L Muju, Veena Gurtoo and A K Dhar attended the meeting.
