SRINAGAR: Amidst repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops on the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), eight residents of Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon to meet their relatives separated in 1947.
Equal number of Kashmiris also crossed over to the PoK at Kaman post, the last Indian Military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, where 48 returnees also crossed sides.
Official sources told UNI that eight fresh guests, including four women and two children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the ‘Aman Setu’ (peace bridge) on foot this afternoon.
They said 18 Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK in previous buses also returned in the Karvan-a-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad since April 7,2005 when both India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of families divided in 1947 on permits, instead of International passports.
Sources said eight Kashmir also crossed to PoK in the bus to meet their relatives. They included four women and two children.
As many as 30 PoK residents also returned to their homes after completing stay in Kashmir.
So far 751 PoK guests had arrived here against just 207 who travelled to other side of the LoC during 2013. (Agencies)
