MIET holds blood donation camp

JAMMU, Dec 10: A blood donation camp was organized at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal for Thalassaemia children in collaboration with J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society (JKTWS), here today.
Welcoming the donors, Dr Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, said that in order to attain professional and personal success in life, students should diligently do their duty towards the society for uplifting the lives of thousands. Prof SK Sharma, Director Academics ensured full support which can help save lives of Thalassaemia children.
The camp was conducted under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Mohan Singh (MCA Deptt.) and the officials of the NSS unit of MIET.
The donors were encouraged by Dr Sanjeev Dhigra, Professor of Paediatrics Department GMC Jammu.
Sudhir Sethi, President J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society appreciated the gestures of donors and all the society members namely Shammi Kapoor, Rajinder Pathak, Puneet Gandotra and Sunandan Anand.
From the Blood Bank side, Dr Rubina Kausar and other paramedical staff successfully conducted the camp. Over 145 students registered for blood donation, out of which, around 110 candidates donated blood.
The organizers of this event were Arjun Charak, Aadhaar Koul, Samragyi Vats and others.
