ASKPC, SDS Handwara’s concern over torching of shrines

JAMMU, Oct 21: All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) has expressed serious concern over the failure of Government to protect the religious places of Pandits in Handwara.
In a statement issued here, today the ASKPC president H L Chatta said that two temples were set ablaze in the town by miscreants. He made an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to expose such elements responsible for creating disturbances and hatred among the communities.
R K Raina senior vice president, ASKPC alleged that the Government has failed to protect the religious places of Hindus in Valley.
Meanwhile, Sanatan Dharm Sabha (SDS) Handwara has also expressed its shock over the torching of Maha Ganesh Ashtapan at Handwara yesterday which is a historical and sacred shrine.
This is for the second time that the shrine has been set ablaze in the town, it added. It said earlier a temple situated in Mohalla Kherman Nand Ram was set ablaze and the Government failed to protect these shrines, it added.
