Blacktopping of 2 roads worth Rs 90 lakh begins

JAMMU, Dec 12: Bharat Bhushan Bodhi, Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Jammu has asserted that roads are the lifeline for the people and the Union Government is paying special focus on the roads in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory especially in the rural areas to promote ease of living for the people of this sensitive region.
While addressing gatherings after kick starting two different works of blacktopping of roads today including Kala Kam to Degree College Mishriwala road with an estimated cost of Rs 19 lakh and Graint to Mera and Khrota road in Bhalwal which would be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 71 lakh he said these development works have been taken up under the City & Town Plan.
On the occasion, Kuldeep Raj BDC Chairman Bhalwal; Omi Khajuria district president BJP Jammu North, Sarpanch, Shoa Naseem Fatima; Ashok Kerni, Mandal president; Rakesh Singh, Mandal president Raipur Domana besides prominent citizens of the area including Panchs of the concerned Panchayats were present.
Bharat Bhushan, said, “Roads are the lifeline for the people of any area and the Union Government is paying special focus on J&K UT being determined to give a great fillip to developmental activities in its every nook and corner.” He said that the Modi led Government stands fully committed to ensure the improvement of road infrastructure in all the areas.
The DDC Chairman asserted that road connectivity in rural areas has drastically improved within a short span of just eight years especially due to PM Modi led Government at the Centre according to the priority attention to development of rural areas to fulfil BJP’s promise of overall equitable development. He said that the main objective of the incumbent Government is to bring the rural areas at par with urban areas. He said that the successive Governments in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir totally neglected the rural and far flung areas as a result of which these areas remained underdeveloped.
Bharat Bhushan said that the construction and improvement of the roads taken up today had been a long pending demand of the people of this area and after the completion of these projects the people of these areas will heave a sigh of relief. He said that these roads will also benefit the people of the surrounding areas besides those from other areas commuting these roads for various purposes.
