Sir,
Frequent road accidents like that in Reasi on 20 Sep 2013, killing 9 and injuring 22 are certainly not commandments of God, but sheer negligence on the part of drivers concerned. The Govts laxity in maintaining good roads also contributes in such tragedies. Generally seen,over loading over speed and unprofessionalism of the drivers results into accidents.
The traffic police also becomes helpless in regulating the traffic scenario due to the existing system. The problem doesn’t end simply by getting the injured admitted in nearby hospitals or extending financial aid to the victims, but the loss of family remains irreparable as lamps of many homes get extinguished.
Therefore, to overcome such situations, firstly, the driver community must be professionally made competent, maintenance of roads be ensured and thirdly the traffic police be made accountable for violation of traffic rules. Such measures if followed stricly the society can be saved from such painful scenes.
