FCS&CA fines 16 erring traders

Srinagar, Dec 14: The Enforcement squad of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department (FCS&CA) headed by Mushtaq Ahmad Wani Assistance Director (Enforcement) today launched a massive drive within the vicinity of Srinagar City and penalized over 2 dozen erring traders.
Officials said that during the course of action 16 erring traders were penalised with a sum of rupees 18100.00/- Besides, they said, 1 poultry shop has also been sealed.
Further, they said, police complaints against 3 vegetable sellers and 1 fruit seller have also been lodged in concerned Police stations for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955.
FCS&CA said that during the current financial year in the entire valley, an amount of Rs 81, 83, 980 has been collected as a fine from 17584 erring traders.
Besides, 224 establishments have been sealed and police complaints against 20 defaulters also stand lodged for violation of the set norms. Moreover, the erring lot has been reprimanded to remain careful in future.
