JAMMU, Dec 14: A deputation of farmers led BJP District spokesperson, Rakesh Pant raised various issues being faced by the farming community of Bishnah and RS Pura with Atul Dulloo, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department, here today.
The deputation discussed the problem faced by the farmers of these two Tehsils and submitted a memorandum before the Additional Chief Secretary.
They urged that in Kashmir province, the farmers are getting relaxation on small tractors, while in Jammu province the same tractors are being purchased with nine percent registration tax along with two percent GST. “If this tax would be reduced, the farmers would be able to reduce the expenditure incurred on their production,” they apprised the ACS.
Rakesh Pant said that the water will release in the Ranbir canal in the month of February-March instead of April (Baisakhi) due to change in cropping season which would help the farming community immensely and urged the Additional Chief Secretary to remove the encroachment along the canal.
The deputation also urged to provide compensation to the farmers affected by ‘Lumpsy disease’ and crops damaged in the year 2019.
