National Art Workshop on ‘Vidya Daan Maha Daan’ begins in Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 15: To mark the 161st birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Pt Madan Mohan Malviya, a week-long National Art Workshop was organized by Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust in collaboration with North Zone Cultural Centre (Patiala, Punjab), Ministry of Culture at K L Sehgal Hall Jammu on theme ‘Vidya Daan Maha Daan’.
On the occasion, Anuradha Rishi, Trustee, Master Sansar Chand Baru Memorial Charitable Trust said that her Trust has been organizing workshops and painting competitions across India showcasing and promoting promising artists.
Anuradha, an artist and the great granddaughter-in-law of Pt Madan Mohan Malviya, who was the founder of Banaras Hindu University, said that the workshop is aimed at giving impetus to the genre of art and also to encourage the younger artists to explore their hidden talent.
Daughter of Pt Sansar Chand Baru, Anuradha said that Baru Trust is working for the promotion and all round awareness of Art and Culture. She said that the Trust is working to bring back the youth of J&K to mainstream life by making them aware of the vanishing Art & Culture of Tribals of J&K.
“The Trust’s first and foremost aim is to sensitize the community and provide a platform to the young lot to excel in the field of arts, and become meaningful partners of the society to steer the J&K UT to new heights of fame across the country and even abroad”, she added.
