KATHUA, Oct 22: MLA Hiranagar has accused the visiting Union Home Minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde of not meeting the affected farmers of border shelling during his visit to the area today.
While talking to Excelsior this evening, Durga Dass asked what was the fun of Union Home Minister’s visit to the area when he did not meet the affected farmers and hear their woes and problems.
He said the Union Home Minister visited the area one month after the border firing and still he did not meet the affected people whose life is uncertain and who are scared due to continuous shelling from Pakistan.
The MLA said that from Phahadpur Post in Kathua to Ragal Post in Samba the area falls in his Constituency where people have suffered a lot due to Pak shelling.
The situation is so grave that the farmers can neither harvest nor sow the seeds. They abandon their houses during the night due to firing from across the border and return in the morning, he added.
Durga Dass said the tension on borders is a core issue for the Government and the Home Minister was supposed to talk to the affected people which he failed to do.
He said it is unfortunate that Mr Shinde visited the Police Station Hiranagar but did not visit the house of Suresh Kumar a shopkeeper who was killed by Fidayeen on September 26 though his house was in front of the Police Station. Even he did not meet the families of cops who were killed in Fidayeen attack on the fateful day by calling them to Hiranagar Police Station.
