UDHAMPUR, Dec 16: A middle aged woman was mauled by a bear at village Meer in Panchari area of District Udhampur, here today.
According to the reports, the said woman was returning home after grazing domestic animal in a forest area when the bear suddenly appeared and attacked the woman.
Identified as Pushpa Devi (55), wife of Jagdev Singh of Upper Meer in Panchari, was seriously injured by the bear. Villager took the injured woman to local PHC where doctors referred her to District Hospital Udhampur.
According to the locals, there have been repeated attack by bears and leopards in the last three month and matter in this regard was brought into the notice of Wildlife Department a number of time but there was no positive response.
