15 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Foiling a bovine smuggling bid, Udhampur Police today rescued 15 animals and arrested two persons in this connection in two different cases under Police Stations Chennai and Rehmbal.
Reports said that acting on reliable information, a Police party from Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Kewal Kishore Gupta, laid a surprise naka near Domail around 11.30 hours and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02W-2511.  During thorough search of the truck, 13 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle. Police rescued the animals and arrested the driver, identified as Mohd Sadiq of Reasi. Police also seized the truck and registered a case in this connection.
Similarly, a Police party from Tikri Police Post, led by SI Nishant Gupta, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Tikri and intercepted a load carrier JK02AX-1386.  Two bovine animals were found loaded in the said vehicle. Police rescued the animals and arrested driver namely Bashir Ahmed of Dharamkund Ramnagar.
