JAMMU, Dec 17: Regional Passport Office (RPO) Jammu today organized a ‘Special Passport Mela’ in order to bring down the waiting period of appointment cycle for submission of applications for passport under normal category.
On 14th December, 250 online appointment slots, on first come first serve basis, were made available at website https://www.passportindia.gov.in/ and at official mobile App mPassport Seva for the applicants at PSK Centre Jammu. Out of these, 241 slots were booked by the applicants and accordingly necessary services were rendered by the officers/officials of RPO Jammu today.
Eventually, 198 applications were processed during the Mela. The main aim of this Mela was to reduce the recent surge of passport demand from citizens and to provide services to new applicants or to those, who have already pre-booked their appointments and want to re-schedule/pre-pone their appointments.
In the Mela, the usual process of scrutinization and verification of essential documents, capturing of photographs & biometrics (fingerprints), etc. under the normal category was conducted from 9 AM to 5 PM for applicants, who had booked their respective appointments for the designated day and time. The applicants with pre-booked appointments were only allowed for the entry. Apart from this, a dedicated counter/help desk was there to assist all such applicants to get their services in an easy, convenient and quick manner.
Recently joined Regional Passport Officer, Rajesh Kumar, who hails from Jammu district, has advised all citizens to apply their respective applications through www.passporti ndia.gov.in or mobile App mPassport Seva, which can be downloaded from Android and iOS application stores. RPO has advised applicants not to deal with any agent and warned to avoid any third party or intermediary.
