JAMMU, Dec 18: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Ladakh, for academic cooperation, faculty exchange, joint research, and other relevant areas of mutual interest.
As part of the MoU, IIM Jammu opens a Transit off Campus in Ladakh at the University of Ladakh. The MoU was signed by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and Prof S K Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Leh in presence of Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Prof Ashok Sharma, Registrar, Dr Jigmet Stobdan, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Dr Amjad Ali Abbasi, Principal GDC, Drass, University of Ladakh, and other faculty and administrative staff of both the Institutes.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof B S Sahay said that IIM Jammu will open the Transit Off-Campus in Ladakh soon. Both Institutions have agreed to work in the areas of academic development, promotion of entrepreneurship, executive education, skill development, organizing joint conferences, short-term education programmes, research, boot camps and various other areas, he said, adding that the collaboration between both Institutes will lead to meaningful outcome in the interest of the stakeholders and lead to sustainable growth and development for the regions of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof S K Mehta, Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, said that the collaboration with IIM Jammu will help to develop competence in many key areas ranging from the development of educational and training programs, long-range planning, development of entrepreneurship, better exposure for faculty, students, and Institutional development. The collaboration between the two reputed Institutes will give a leading edge to the research output of the University of Ladakh, he said, adding that this partnership will lead to the significant exchange of synergies between both Institutes.
Prof Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu said that the Institute along with the University of Ladakh will try to leverage the best of this partnership by working in the continued interest of the people of Ladakh, Jammu, and Kashmir.
Prof Ashok K Sharma, Registrar, University of Ladakh said that the signing of the MoU will pave the path for the growth and development of the University of Ladakh and the Union Territory of Ladakh.
