96 bovine rescued, six vehicles seized

JAMMU, Dec 18: In separate cases, Jammu Police has rescued 77 bovine animals being smuggled in six vehicles.
According to a police spokesman, 39 bovine animals loaded in two different vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02CB-5411 and JK08F-2385 were rescued by Nagrota Police during naka checking at Ban toll Plaza. Two accused were also arrested from the vehicle bearing registration number JK02CB-5411, he said, adding the accused were identified as Liaquat Hussain son of Mohd Iqbal of Rakwala (Poonch) and Arshad Ahmed son of Laiquat Choudhary of Uttar Pradesh.
“Six bovines were also rescued from a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CT-1310 at TCP Nagrota naka,” the spokesman said. He added that three separate cases vide FIR numbers 425/2022, 426/2022 and 427/2022 under relevant sections of law were registered in this connection at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation started.
The spokesman further said that 32 bovine animals were also rescued by Manwal Police from 3 vehicles bearing registration numbers JK18C-7694, JK03F-4872 and JK13-5411, during naka checking in the area under its jurisdiction. Jhajjar Kotli Police had taken cognizance of the matter, he added.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police today rescued 11 bovine animals and arrested a smuggler while Reasi Police rescued 8 bovines and nabbed six smugglers.
According to the reports, during routine naka checking at Battal, 11 bovines were rescued by a team of Police Station Majalta from a vehicle (bearing registration number JK03B-87110). A case FIR Number 97/2022 U/S 188 IPC 11 PCA ACT was registered in this connection at Police Station Majalta and the accused truck driver namely Zakir Khatana son of Jalil Khatana of Anantnag arrested.
Meanwhile, teams of District Police Reasi laid special naka during which they seized 2 vehicles (a tractor-trolley and a swift car bearing registration number PB04L 8888) and rescued 8 bovines. Five bovine smugglers were also arrested. They were identified as Abdul Majid son of Bhalla Shah of Talab Tillo, Mushtaq Ahmed son of Mohd Mirza of Khari (Bishnah), Mohd Saleem son of Abdul Rashid of Sua (Akhnoor), Aqib Mushtaqson of Mohd Mushtaq of Saaj (Rajouri) and Shama Din son of Abdul Gani of Phalian Mandal (Jammu).
In this regard, a case FIR Number 76/2022 U/S 307/147/ 323/188 IPC and 11(1)(a) PCA act was registered at Police Station Pouni and both the vehicles seized.
