RAJOURI, Oct 23: On his maiden arrival on the campus after the Chief Minister’s approval of his extension as Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Prof Irshad Hamal was accorded a grand reception by all the University officials, students and locals of Rajouri.
The Vice Chancellor was garlanded on the highway and then taken in a cavalcade to the University Campus where a grand reception programme was organized.
In the programme Registrar Mohammad Rashid Chowdhary highlighted the achievements of the University during the last 3 years. He said that biggest achievement of Prof Hamal was that he streamlined the University and made it a financially stable organization.
Prof Hamal thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also Chancellor of the University, for having reposed confidence in him to successfully complete the process of consolidation and expansion initiated in the last three years.
On the occasion various faculty members including Prof Mohammad Asgar Dean School of Mathematics, Dr Shamas Kamal Anjum, Head Department of Arabic, Dr Zaheer Abbas, Head Department of Mathematics, Malik Mubashir Hasan, Head Department of IT Engineering, Iqbal Shawl, a great educationist and Aftab Mir representing Non Teaching staff of the University spoke at length on the tremendous performance of Prof Hamal.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the basis of good performance of Prof Irshad A Hamal for the last 3 years in all sectors, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the capacity as Chancellor of this University granted 2 years extension to the former as VC with effect from October 16, 2013.
