JAMMU, Dec 20: Unscheduled and unending power cuts in Jammu region are testimony to fact that people are suffering here at the cost of Kashmir as the lopsided Government led by BJP has routed the entire electricity supply meant for the UT towards the Valley.
This was stated by Taranjit Singh Tony, Chairman Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for administrative engagement and minority affairs, and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh after submitting a memorandum to PDD Chief Engineer Jammu seeking adequate power supply for Sae area of Suchetgarh which is facing acute dearth of water due to unprecedented power outage leading to famine like situation.
Earlier, BDC Chairperson, Tarsem Lal and Sarpanchs Vijay Choudhary, Sarabjit Singh and Dev Raj accompanied the DDC member, Suchetgarh to the office of Chief Engineer PDD to submit the memo.
Tony accused the BJP Government at the Centre and its offshoot administration in J&K of meeting out step-motherly treatment to the people of Jammu region and warned the Government not to test the patience of the population living in this part of the State. He said that despite Jammu people paying their PDD bills in full and the Power Department getting minimum revenue from Kashmir, there is complete darkness in Jammu while Valley is getting round the clock power supply raising a big question mark on the policy adopted by the ruling Government at the Centre.
The senior AAP leader asserted that already there is drought like situation in the border belts of Jammu region and if the situation will not improve there will be complete devastation as far as fields in the region are concerned. He asked the concerned quarters to do justice in the matter and provide adequate power to people and farmers in Jammu region.
