POONCH, Dec 20: Deptt of Sericulture, Poonch Campus, University of Jammu and SKC GDC Poonch today signed MoU aiming at promotion of Sericulture sector in Pir Panjal range of J&K UT, particularly in boarder areas of Poonch and Rajouri districts.
The MoU was signed by the Director Poonch Campus, JU, Prof Dipankar Sengupta and Principal SKC GDC Poonch, Prof Jasbir Singh on the occasion of ongoing 10 days workshop cum training programme organised by Deptt of Biotechnology, SKC GDC, Poonch in collaboration with Deptt of Sericulture, Poonch campus, JU.
Prof Dipankar Sengupta enumerated the objectives and thrust areas of the MoU. He said that the aforesaid MoU will provide an opportunity to make remarkable contributions in the field of research by exchange of ideas, infrastructure, lab facilities, faculty and other resources between the college and university campus. He also suggested the incorporation of skill based courses like food technology, horticulture and post harvest technology in the upcoming Institute of Science and Technology at the university campus.
Prof Jasbir Singh enlisted various objectives of the MoU and stated that this will help the college and university campus to promote the sericultural activities in both the institutions. He further added that this MoU will enable both the institutes to take up collaborative research projects in future.
The programme started with a welcome address by Prof. Gurvinder Raj Verma, Coordinator IQAC and HOD Sericulture, SKC GDC, Poonch. Dr Suraksha Chanotra Incharge Deptt of Sericulture, Poonch Campus, JU, assured to extend all the possible cooperation to the students and staff in implementing the MoU in letter and spirit. Dr Muzafar Ahmad Bhat, Liaison Officer, Deptt of Sericulture, Poonch Campus, JU also ensured to provide active support for the implementation of MoU Formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Javid Iqbal, Head Deptt. of Biotechnology, SKC GDC, Poonch.
