JAMMU, Dec 22: The police arrested two drug-peddlers along with some consignment in Poonch today.
Official sources said that a police team headed by ASI Ishtiaq Ahmed from Police Station Poonch during Naka at SK Bridge about 4 pm noticed suspicious movement of two persons moving toward Shamshan Ghat. One of them was carrying a black polythene in his hand and other one was carrying something covered in a white cloth who were then apprehended tactfully.
During the course of enquiry they disclosed their names as Mohd Showkat, son of Salam Din, resident of Loran and at present Shankar Nagar and Mohd Tahir, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Chandak. On search of Mohd Tahir, 96 grams of canabis leaves got recovered from his possession and from Mohd Showkat, 14 gram of canabis grinded powder.
In this regard a case FIR No. 264/2022 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Poonch and the investigation has been taken up.
