Srinagar, Oct 24: Extending its platinum year celebrations further into Ladakh, J&K Bank will be developing a modern community park in Bandobasti Housing Colony in Leh. Also known as Bomb-guard, the area was an Army ammunition depot not long ago.
The foundation stone for the park was today laid by Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, in presence of the bank’s Chairman & CEO Mushtaq Ahmad.
This is the first park to be designed and developed by the bank under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Ladakh, which remains cut-off for almost six months from rest of the world.
Chief Executive LAHDC (Leh) Rigzin Spalbar, Deputy Commissioner Leh Simrandeep Singh, Executive President J&K Bank Ab Hamid Banday, President J&K Bank Mohammad Sayed Wani, Zonal Head Ladakh M Younus Pattoo, SSP Leh Vivek Gupta and Executive Counselors LAHDC (Leh) Mohammad Shafi, Dr. Angchuk and Sonam Dorjey were also present on the occasion.
Mr Jora commended the bank for taking significant CSR initiatives in the state. He thanked the Chairman for initiating development of a community park in Leh.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad said, “We have developed various parks under CSR in the state, however, the climatic conditions here make it seem like a tough task. Let me assure you that this piece of land will soon transform into one of the most attractive community parks in the state.”
“Besides, to help larger number of people in this zone, we are also exploring few more CSR initiatives also”, he added.
