JMC continues drive against adulteration of milk

JAMMU, Oct 24: Continuing its drive against the menace of adulteration especially in milk and its products in view of the forthcoming festival season, a team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) comprising of food safety officers, along with other field staff under the supervision of Dr Vinod Sharma Health Officer, JMC inspected the leading sweet shops, milk shops as well as milk vendors in the area of Roop Nagar, Paloura and Janipur. Total 50 liters of milk was seized and destroyed on the spot and a fine of Rs 2300 was also realized.
On October 21 JMC team checked six quintals of khoya being imported in the city form Railway Station and lifted for samples from the prominent khoya seller at Hari Market where the consignment was being delivered. The samples were sent for testing and report indicated that three samples were as substandard.
