Sham, Lone lay foundation stone of Rs 8.07 cr WSS

BARAMULLA, Oct 24: Minister for PHE and Irrigation, Sham Lal Sharma and the Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone today laid foundation stone of Wussan-Aglar Water Supply Scheme at Pattan here today.
The scheme is being implemented at the estimated cost of Rs 8.07 crore, which would be completed by 2016 under which Aglar, Wussan, Goshbugh and Loolipora villages will have new source and new water supply related infrastructure.
Chief Engineer, PHE, Kashmir, Lankar, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Mir Javaid Jaffar, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zargar, Former Member Parliament, A.R Shaheen, Mir Mushtaq Ahmad and officers of PHE besides large number of people and public representatives were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Mr. Sham said that to provide basic amenities including adequate drinking water to people at every corner of the State is Government’s commitment and number of schemes have been already implemented in this regard and several such schemes are underway across the State, so that people do not suffer for want of drinking water.
Mr. Sham said Central Government is providing liberal funding to the J&K and it is the responsibility of officers to make judicious and efficient use of it. He urged upon officers to perform their duties with more zeal and enthusiasm, so that people are benefited to maximum. He also enjoined upon the officers to expedite the Wussan-Aglar Water Supply Scheme before stipulated time and ensure quality of work.
Mohammad Akbar Lone said that present Coalition Government led by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has launched number of schemes aimed at welfare and prosperity of people and have prioritised providing basic amenities including adequate drinking water. He said people should come forward and take active role to strengthening of democratic setup, so that they are able to take maximum benefit of such schemes. Mr. Lone also stressed upon officers to put focus on public needs and redress their genuine problems on priority.
Earlier, Both the Ministers visited Naidkhai Sumbal and took stock of pace and progress of work being executed on Rs. 1.28 crore Gulshanpora- Noorpora Water Supply Scheme.
