HC sets Nov 11 deadline for status report

Srinagar, Oct 24: High Court today asked the State Government to file status report by November 11 on granting the sanction for prosecution of the officials against whom charge sheet was filed in spurious drug scam case.
The Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice M H Attar today while hearing the PIL filed in June this year on the spurious drug scam, granted time upto November 11 to the Government for filing the response on according sanction of prosecution against accused in spurious drug scam case.
The Government in its status report that was filed today submitted that the matter is pending with the General Administrative Department and sought more time from the court.
The bench also showed its dissatisfaction over the steps taken by the Government for stopping the spurious and substandard drug menace.
The court also demanded status report on the re-testing of the drugs and it was informed that the samples had been sent for testing to drug laboratories in Chandigarh and Kolkatta and reports are awaited.
