JAMMU, Dec 25: Dogri Sanstha Jammu today released calendar for next year 2023 in a simple but an impressive function.
This years’ calendar has pictures of 6 prolific writers like Vishwanath Khajuria, prominent prose writer regarded as father of Dogri one act plays; Thakur Raghunandan Singh Sambyal, a prolific Dogri poet having good hold on Punjabi, Urdu, Persian and Balti languages also; Tara Smailpuri, an eminent satire writer, poet and actor; Praduman Singh Jindrahia, a well-known singer, lyric writer and poet; Prof Shakti Sharma, famous writer regarded as first woman prose writer in Dogri and Prof Laxmi Narayana Sharma, eminent essayist sand satire writer.
On this occasion, Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha Jammu said that Sanstha has been releasing calendar every year with the focal point of making the young generation aware of their elders who have contributed immensely in preserving mother tongue Dogri. Although these literary stalwarts are not with us physically but will ever remain in our memories, thanks to their colossal contributions in Dogri literature, he added.
Rajeshwar Singh ‘Raju’, General Secretary of the Sanstha, while sharing his views on the concept of having the pictures of eminent Dogri litterateurs on the calendars said that it is an effort not to recall their contributions only but also paying homage to the stalwarts of Dogri literature by Dogri Sanstha, a pioneer organization working for preserving and promoting mother tongue Dogri and Duggar cultural traditions since it was formed way back in 1944.
The calendar has been designed by Pawan Verma, well known Dogri poet and theatre activist. The function was attended by galaxy of eminent personalities including working committee members and executive body members of the Sanstha, like Prof Veena Gupta, Inderjeet Kesar, Pawan Verma, Susheel Begana, Chanchal Bhasin and Vijaya.
