Pensioners, senior citizens list demands

JAMMU, Dec 25: A meeting of pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society UT of J&K was held at Mubarak Mandi here today under the chairmanship of Mir Gulam Rasool Botvani .
During the meeting it was stated that pensioners & senior citizens of UT are facing multiple problems due to sky rocking prices of all the essential commodities, growing unemployment. The meeting appealed the UT Government for considering the enhancement of Medical Allowance at par with Central Government, modification in pension table issued in 2016 under SRO 138, enhancement of monthly pension from the age of 65 years as has been ordered by various states in the country, providing of ration on concessional rates to retired old age pensioners.
It also demanded adjustment of unemployed youths.
Members were of the opinion that suggestions of senior citizens should be considered as and when required for the betterment of public besides all other facilities applicable in the country needs to be provided in the UT of J&K.
It also expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of wife of Mir Ghulam Rasool Rajpori a veteran Trade Union leader and provincial president Low Paid Employees Federation and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to departed soul.
The meeting was attended by Comrade Baldev Raj Sharma, president Jammu province, Ghulam Nabi Prengi, vice president J&K UT, Krishan Koushal from Jammu , Mohd Sultan Mir, district president, Anantnagh and D N Sadhu State secretary for Pensioners& Senior Citizens UT of J&K.
The meeting decided to hold next meeting during last week of January in Jammu province.
