Land rights and benefits for WPRs, Valmikis

Days of discriminations are over in Jammu and Kashmir, no more denial of PRCs to migrants from POJK and Valmikis, they are getting their dues now what they couldn’t get for last seven decades, almost third generation now. What can be more shameful that while Pakistan refugees settled in rest of India could become Prime Minister of India but in Jammu and Kashmir they neither got voting rights nor rights of land whatever was allotted to them, leave alone denial of Government jobs. What can be more tragic for these refugees? Same was the case of Valmikis coming from rest of India and still without land rights. Situation becomes even more serious as these WPRs refugees were settled mainly in border areas and as such got no compensation for their land acquired by BSF for fencing or vacated during shelling. Too many things have gone against these lesser people of God for too long. But situation is fast changing as both GoI and LG Administration are well aware of the injustice done to these helpless citizens and now local administration, in phased manner, is removing all hurdles for giving due benefits to them. Domicile Certificates have already been issued to all of them, one time settlement amount of Rs 5.5 lakh each family for thousands of families, already proposed and sanctioned in 2015 itself and now list is being prepared of all the refugees/Valmikis to transfer land rights. Once they get land rights then they will be eligible for Prime Minister’s Kisan Samaan Nidhi Scheme prevalent in rest of India since December 2018 for farmers, getting Rs 6000 annually in three equal installments of two thousand rupee each. What has been denied to them on flimsy and fake grounds will be given now. Amount is not big but the feeling of being at par with rest of India is most important, to be true Indian citizen in letter and spirit.
