Healthcare system of J&K needs urgent augmentation: AAP’s Fayaz Karnahi

KUPWARA, Dec 26: Aam Aadmi Party’s general secretary of Kupwara district, Fayaz Karnahi today said that healthcare system of Jammu and Kashmir needs urgent augmentation as doctors are conducting surgical procedures under torch light that is enough to show poor state of affairs.
“Healthcare sector of Jammu and Kashmir is not in good condition and is itself ailing with vacant posts of doctors as well as other officers of administrative level showing poor state of affairs but Government is not paying concern towards it,” he said, while addressing a presser, here today.
AAP leader lamented that all the areas of Jammu and Kashmir are having one or other issue of healthcare sector with lack of doctors and lack of proper infrastructure in health Institutions affect life of every citizen.
He gave a reference of Primary Health Center Drugmulla in Kupwara district and said that this healthcare institution caters needs of dozens of villages and thousands of people but lack of basic infrastructure in it creates problem for masses and a common man hardly finds proper healthcare facilities in the center.
He also gave reference of a number of media reports according to which doctors conducted surgical procedures under torch light like in Drugmulla but health department has failed to address the issue.
Fayaz, while calling for an audit of healthcare services in all primary healthcare units of Jammu and Kashmir said that Government should pay proper concern towards it so that people living in rural areas can get proper healthcare services in their PHCs.
He also mentioned about vacant posts of doctors and administrative officers in healthcare units and said that augmentation of healthcare sector is a dire need of hour.
