Truck falls into gorge, 2 killed

RAMBAN, Dec 26: Two persons were killed after a truck loaded with LPG cylinders rolled down several hundred feet and landed in a gorge near Battery Chasma here on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during wee hours of Monday.
The ill fated truck was having registration number JK03A-3243.
After receiving information about accident, rescue teams of Police, QRT and SDRF rushed to the spot and retrieved two unidentified dead bodies from the gorge and shifted them to mortuary of District Hospital Ramban for identification.
SSP Mohita Sharma confirmed the incident and said that two casualties were reported in this accident.
Later in the afternoon, Police identified the deceased persons as Ilyass Ahmed Khatana son of Jumadeen Khatana and Sameer son of Haneif Khatana, both residents of Teshwan, Kokernag, district Anantnag.
After conducting post-mortem and other legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to legal heirs.
Police has registered a case under relevant sections at Police Station Ramban and started investigation.
