SRINAGAR, June 15: The daily wagers engaged in different departments are going to carry out a protest on June 20 in support of their demands. The daily wagers are demanding regularization of their services and release of pending salaries of need based as well as casual workers.
In a statement, Umar Bhat, spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Daily Wagers Joint Action Forum (JKDWJAF) said that the State Government has been delaying the process of regularization of services of daily wagers, who have completed seven years. The spokesman said that wages of need based and casual workers are pending for the last many years, adding that these should be paid at the earliest.
“As the Government is turning a deaf ear to our demands we have decided to hold protest demonstration on June 20 in support of our demands. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should intervene and ensure that our demands are met. The June 20 programme would be a reminder to the State Government with respect to our demands. We might be forced to intensify our agitation if our demands are not met immediately,” said the spokesman.
